About Wendy Tokunaga

Wendy Tokunaga is a novelist, editor, and writing instructor. Her latest novel, Brenda Barker’s Next Chapter, published by Blydyn Square Books, was released in February 2026. She is also the author of the novels Midori by Moonlight, Love in Translation, Falling Uphill, His Wife and Daughters, and No Kidding, and the short story collection, Postcards From Tokyo. She was born in San Francisco and raised on a balanced diet of Diet Coke and Hershey bars. Before she became a writer she worked at various jobs including technical writer, web producer and professional Japanese karaoke singer. Wendy holds an MFA in Creative Writing from University of San Francisco and teaches for Stanford’s Novel Writing Certificate Program. She lives with her husband in a laid-back California beach town and is known to be a member in good standing at too many wine clubs.
