About Wendy Tokunaga

Wendy Tokunaga is a novelist, editor, writing instructor and acclaimed cat servant, based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her latest novel, Brenda Barker’s Next Chapter, published by Blydyn Square Books, was released in February 2026. She is also the author of the novels Midori by Moonlight, Love in Translation, Falling Uphill, His Wife and Daughters, and No Kidding. Her nonfiction interview book is Marriage in Translation: Foreign Wife, Japanese Husband. Postcards from Tokyo is her short story collection. She holds an MFA from University of San Francisco and teaches for Stanford Continuing Studies’ Novel Writing Certificate Program. When not writing, editing, teaching, or discovering the best new restaurant, Wendy sings jazz and bossa nova standards with her keyboardist husband.
